Quality studies on aquatic and natural environments

On behalf of local authorities and private clients, Naldeo conducts watercourse quality studies combining the following themes:

  • impact of anthropic activities on the quality of the receiving environments (including sewage treatment plant releases),
  • study on environment quality before then after development projects (watercourses, motorways, railways, pond drainage, etc),
  • reinforcement of the status of knowledge on sectors still insufficiently studied ...

The parameters considered when performing these assignments are based upon physical-chemical parameters (general physical-chemical conditions, plant health, metal, hydrocarbon monitoring, etc) and standardized biological indicators:

  • global Biological Indicator- Frame Directive on Water: integrating method based on benthic macro-invertebrates used to measure both water quality and the habitational quality of a watercourse,
  • biological Diatom Index (BDI): method based on the microscopic algae present on the bottom of watercourses and used to determine both water quality and the size of the anthropic impacts (including organic pollution).

In the same way, we conduct studies on ecosystems of the terrestrial and continental aquatic (wetlands) types, combining the following themes:

  • ecological diagnostic: fauna-flora and habitat inventory. The analysed taxa are avifauna, herpetofauna, entomofauna (lepidoptera and odonates) and mammals,
  • wetland examination with pedological and vegetation analysis.
